Mountain Biking

Stu has been mountain biking for years and holds a British Cycling Level 2 Mountain Bike Leader qualification. Les Arcs is a mountain bike Mecca with an ever increasing number of marked bike park runs. Ranging from gentle blue runs to a full-on national level DH track, the real draw of Les Arcs are the incredible, hidden, Singletrack trails. These wind their way down to the valley floor – 2600m to 750m!

Stu recommends a fairly burly 160mm – 180mm travel enduro bike. This will help you get the most out of the lift assisted riding here. However, there’s plenty of fun to be had on any bike just make sure your brakes are in good working order!

With a well organised lift system it’s possible to do more descending in a week than you would in a year in the UK! With fast draining rocky soil it makes for great all weather riding without being smothered in mud A fantastic mix of high altitude, high speed rocky trails and tight, steep, technical Singletrack with a spattering of rooty switchbacks. You’re guaranteed to find something to make you grin.

The riding area is easily accessible from the Chalet, just a short ride along the flat to the Les Arc Funicular. On the way home you can ride the a number of different singletrack trails to get back down to the Chalet.

On the Italian side is La Thuile Bike Park with some of the best man-made Singletrack you’ll ever ride. Nearly every year they host a stage of the ‘Enduro World Series’. There are miles of beautifully laid out dusty technical trails with huge grin factor. Definitely worth a visit for a day it’s only about an hour’s drive from our Chalet.

At the chalet there are bike washing facilities, the usual tools & Stu keeps a range of mtb spares like tyres, tubes, brake pads, chain oil and bike cleaner all at reasonable prices!

There is space in the boot room inside the chalet for secure bike storage.
